ERASMUS+ LIBRARY STAFF TRAINING WEEK 2026

Smart Services and Next-Generation Library Spaces

The University Library of the George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Targu Mures is pleased to announce the 2026 edition of its Erasmus+ Library Staff Training Week, dedicated to professionals working in academic libraries across Europe.

This year’s edition focuses on two major directions in the evolution of contemporary academic libraries:

INNOVATIVE SMART SERVICES AND THE DESIGN AND TRANSFORMATION OF LIBRARY SPACES.

Themes for Participant Presentations: Participants are invited to choose one of the following two topics for preparing a PowerPoint presentation (the presentation is encouraged but not mandatory):

1. Smart Services in Academic Libraries

  • innovative services recently implemented in your library
  • digital solutions, automation, AI-assisted tools
  • user-centered digital initiatives
  • examples of best practices and successful projects

2. Library Spaces: Design, Reorganization & New Architectural Trends

  • user-centered learning spaces
  • redesigning libraries to support new academic needs
  • sustainability and green design
  • makerspaces, collaborative hubs, flexible study areas
  • architectural transformations aligned with emerging services

Participants are welcome to present ongoing projects, completed initiatives, or planned developments in their own institutions.
