The Library of George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Targu Mures, active partner of the academic process, participates both in the education process and in the scientific research activity of the university, through the entire treasury and the range of services it offers.
Along with more than 300,000 modern books and journals, the Library Museum of History of Medicine and Pharmacy, houses a remarkable fund of special collections, consisting of old and rare documents (manuscripts, books, newspapers and magazines, scientific papers, iconographic materials), edited between the 16th – 19th centuries. The oldest written work, owned by G. E. Palade UMPhST Library, is a work published in 1532, in which the author brings information about an extremely widespread disease in Europe at that time, the Gallic disease or the French disease.
The collection of written documents of the library is completed by medical and pharmaceutical instruments and objects, testimonies of the evolution of medicine and pharmacy: medical accessories, pharmaceutical vessels, old glass syringes, stamps and initials, emblems, diplomas, medals, etc.
On May 13, 2023, on the occasion of the Night of the Museums, the University Library opens its doors, making it possible for the public to access the cultural heritage accumulated over centuries that the library holds.
We invite the local community to visit the Library of George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Targu Mures in order to discover the pieces exhibited in the Library Museum.

FREE OPEN ACCESS PUBLISHING

The publishing house Cambridge University Press in collaboration with George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures is making available to authors who publish under the auspices of this publishing house a number of 10 vouchers for free publication. These vouchers apply to publication in Cambridge Open Access (OA) journals that charge Article Processing Charges (APC).
The conditions for obtaining vouchers are:
– Publication is made in hybrid journals (hybrid OA) from the Cambridge collection subscribed to by the institution to which the corresponding author is affiliated (or, in the case of articles with several authors, one of the corresponding authors), or in OA journals (gold OA) – ( see attached document for journals available for publication);
– To be eligible, the article must already be accepted for publication, under the conditions stated above, or be accepted during the validity period of the vouchers;
– Vouchers cannot be awarded retroactively, if an article has been accepted for traditional (non-OA) publication, it cannot be switched to OA publication regime;
– Vouchers are awarded in order of request, after checking eligibility;
– Vouchers are valid until the end of 2022.
