LIBRARY STAFF WEEK 2024
Dear members of the Information and Library Science community,
George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures and its Library, are organizing International Library Staff Week, between 27th– 31st of May 2024, in order to share best practices and networking with colleagues.
This programme is opened to all kind of library staff involved in a European university and will bring together professional library staff with varied backgrounds.
The main theme of the Library Staff Week is:
CONTEMPORARY LIBRARY ARCHITECTURE: PLAN AND DESIGN
Through this week we will investigate and analyse the new tendencies in library architecture, approaching topics such:
- Libraries: The Sacred Spaces of Modernity
- Key Elements of Library Architecture
- New Waves in Library Architecture
- Academic library: Case studies
- 21st century Libraries: Changing forms, changing functions
Various subjects related to academic libraries, may also be included in the programme:
- Digitization of cultural heritage
- Institutional repository
- Digital Reference Services
- Digitalisation of Library Services
- Challenges in the digital age
- The future of collections
- The library as a place
- User’s experience
- Public Relations challenges
- Acquisition of resources (online and traditional)
- Legal aspects
Participants will contribute to the programme with a short presentation of their library, with a highlight on their library architecture and services, sharing experience, innovative projects or other related topics.
Several interesting cultural visits will also be included in the program.
Your application should consist of a CV and a letter of motivation.

No participation fee is required. Participants have to cover their expenses using the Erasmus+ grant provided by their home institutions.
